NAWG’s 2021 Fall Intern
Washington, D.C. (November 18, 2021) – This fall, NAWG welcomed Texas A&M University student, Emma Golightly, as our policy and communications intern. Emma is a junior pursuing a B.S. in Agricultural Economics with a concentration in Policy and Economic Analysis. She plans to graduate in the spring of 2023.
Emma grew up in West Columbia, Texas, where her passion for agriculture was sparked when she joined her local FFA chapter. Encouraged by her Ag teacher to run as an officer, she was elected Vice President of her chapter. As she became more involved in FFA, her passion continued to grow, and she knew she wanted to pursue a career in the agriculture industry. After she began her time at A&M, she was exposed to agriculture policy and chose to make that her focus. She has always wanted to make a difference and give back to the industry that has given so much to her.
“The Texas A&M Agriculture and Natural Resource Policy (ANRP) Program has been a great program to partner with. We appreciate the opportunity to help shape the future of agriculture policy by fostering future leaders,” NAWG CEO, Chandler Goule, commented. “Emma has been a huge asset to NAWG and we really appreciate her contributions to our organization.”
During her time with the National Association of Wheat Growers, Emma has been able to participate in both policy and communications projects. Some of the highlights of her internship have been assisting with the preparation of NAWG’s testimony to the House Agriculture Committee on voluntary carbon markets, meeting with Senate Agriculture Committee staff, assisting with press releases over a variety of topics, and meeting so many impactful people within the NAWG office and throughout DC.
